PCI Slot coolers really don't help as most of them just cause air disturbances and don't do any good.

Don't bother with a Intel NIC unless you do a lot of online gaming or find yourself on the river a lot

TV Tuner is a good suggestion.

PhysX isn't worth it unless you can use something of a minimum of like a 8800GT which they only made in PCI-E.

Hauppauge is really good, and seems to have good compatibility with various media software (ie. sageTV).

Which model depends on the budget. A decent cheap model is this one: NCIX.com - Buy Hauppauge Win TV PVR 150 MCE Kit TV Tuner MPEG2 Hardware Encoder Remote and Receiver OEM - 1062 In Canada. Has a remote, and hardware encoder.

I have this one: NCIX.com - Buy Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 PCI TV Tuner Hardware MPEG NTSC ATSC QAM Retail Box W/ Remote & IR Receiver - 1181 In Canada.
Twice the price, but has a IR Blaster for controlling cable tv boxes, etc. It supports Clear Qam digital signal, but I doubt you will use it. It is $155 at NCIX, I paid $90 for it at Canada Computers. Look around for a better price on the second one if you like it.

Funny... I thought PCI slots were just placeholders used instead of empty space between PCI-express slots...

No. The digital tuner will do a Hi-def Clear Qam signal, which is a standard signal in the US, but not the same technology used here in Canada (or at least here in Ontario).

Actually, my Win TV PVR 150 MCE came with a blaster as I recall. One black box for the remote and a tiny one that plugged into the black box being the blaster.. I do not use the remote though because windows media centre is useless if you want to use anything other than the PVR-150's coax input.

The one I linked is OEM and I did not see any blaster mentioned, but may have missed it when I scanned through. If the PVR-150 has a blaster then it is a great product for the price IMO. I paid $100 for the 1600, I am not sure I would pay $150.

I saw on CC a decent for less than $80, but it was PCI-E.
