Default Microsoft SideWinder mouse

I'm looking into buying a new mouse and the SideWinder is currently ahead in my list of choices. When it comes to mice, I like lots of button for gaming. My current Logitech has 7+scrollUp/Dwn which gives me the possibility of 9 different actions.

The microsoft advertises 5 customizable buttons:
left click
right click
3 on the side of the mouse

Now, add scroll up, scroll down
I'm assuming the scroll wheel can also be pressed on

That bring me to possibly 8 different actions on the mouse. I'm missing 1.
There are another 4 buttons on top of the SideWinder. 1 is quicklaunch, 3 are DPI settings. My question is, can those be reassigned?

I'm a gamer, I don't need quicklaunch. It's badely placed for an ingame button, but it could come in handy. And 3 dpi setting? I only need 2. Fast or slow.

So yeah, can I reassign those button? I'd like to know before I commit the money and make the purchase.

I too love lots of buttons on my mice. I wont get one that does not have a tilting wheel for 2 extra buttons. Those are the handiest, melee and toss 'nade.
