Mouse pads are one of those things that you don't need to upgrade for a LONG time.. In fact, just about anything thats not clear or white will work.

If it's still firm and smooth, keep it. Otherwise, get a new one.

Nope, laser mice don't work on glass. It won't work on my glass desk.

Razer Mantis. Its huge, buttery smooth, and you can roll it up to bring to LANs. I used to swear by aluminum or plastic base mousepads, but then I got a Mantis, and I LOVE it. NCIX.com - Buy Razer Mantis Speed Mouse Pad 444MM X 355MM X 4.3MM Precision Surface - RZ02-060100-R1M1 In Canada.

I have the Mini Qck from Steelseries, and I love it!. It's really thin and easy to roll & transport.

Here is the larger one :NCIX.com - Buy Steelseries Qck Mouse Pad 12.6X11.2IN - 63004 In Canada.

Here is the Mini (the one I use):
NCIX.com - Buy Steelpad Qck Mini Mouse Pad 9.8X8.2IN - 63005/1 In Canada.

If you're interested, you can PM on NCIX with DC or even buy it from DC.

Razer does make some nice mousepads. I got this one eXactMat;
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=22345&vpn=RZ81-030101-B2M1&manufacture=Razer

It has a smooth and a rough side, and it is rather large. I ended up using it rotated 90 deg.
just because of the way my desk space is oriented.
Yeah I paid $40 for it. Can’t say as I regret it, its very nice to use, and takes a few minutes
to get used to after using the crap pad I have at work during the day.
Still ya do feel kind of stupid paying that much.
