^^^ Agreed. ^^^

For the record, Small FTT's puts maximum stress on the CPU, while large FFT's stresses the memory system.

If you're determined to get that proc higher, I'd probably suggest you back off and verify the rest of your system first. Pull the multiplier down to 6, pull the memory ratio down to 1:1, and see how high you can get your FSB (using large FFT's to test). Once you got a range of FSB speeds that you know are stable, you can do the same with the memory (staying within the FSB ranges that you know are good). Once you've got a range of memory speeds that you know are stable, then you can kick up the multiplier again on the CPU, and be fairly confident that any errors are actually coming from the CPU.

It's time consuming (and frustrating at times), but sometimes there's no shortcut for this stuff. You might also consider googling around for OC profiles used by other people using your board and processor. Both are quite common, so you might get some hints that way too.

1.5V for 4GHz on a 45nm chip?!

With my old E6850 CPU which was 65nm, I achieved 4GHz with the same voltage. And it could also do 4.1GHz too.

Maybe your CPU isn't a particularly good batch?

And you'll need something better than this weird creation:

Use a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme or Scythe Ninja instead.
