My System Specs

Default Modded Bios'

I'm currently running a "user" modified bios on my DFI board that provides better performance and stability over the stock DFI offerings.

I'm also running a modified bios on my son's MSI board which provides relief for (1t)/(2t) issues when overclocking.

Anybody else out there running modified bios files on their boards, and what brand specific communities have you come across with good user support for bios?

T-Mod's bootable bios CD for DFI boards (available at DIY-STREET.COM) is the best user-produced mobo resource I've ever come across.

Not only does he include the best bios' available for most DFI boards, it's made to boot off of the cd, and includes system recovery/testing software.

Heh.......

Just a word to the wise before somebody comes back to give me heck for even mentioning modded bios'.........

Updating bios using approved files is often risky and is one of the few things guaranteed to pooch your board beyond recovery if not done correctly.

Using a modded bios from a stranger is 10X more risky and should only be done after a fair bit of research, and only from files found on a reputable site!!!!!!!

This form of modding is not for the faint of heart..... If you can't afford to take a chance on needing to purchase a new board, don't even think about attempting this............

I'm using one of Ket's modified bios on my P5Q-E. Found it over at XS.

Yeah, there seem to be a few out there for the P5Q series boards. Haven't had an issue that made me want to try one though.... :)

What's it doing for you that the stock ones wouldn't?

Installed Ket's BIOS on my friends P5Q-E to solve a ram stability issue, and I run the Rampage Formula X48 BIOS on my Maximus Formula X38.

I won't give my opinions about Ket and his ways.. but it cost me to try a modded bios by him for my Biostar.
