Help needed overclocking

So this is my first time overclocking a PC just wanted to know a good guide and any advice you have to give

Can you let us know which motherboard, processor and memory you have?

Adic January 19, 2016 10:32 PM

I have 5930k with a rampage v extreme as for memory g.skill ripjaw ddr4 2133

I think the first thing you should do is OC using the Rampage's built-in tools. We actually got pretty darn close to our manual overclock by using CPU Level Up: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...review-16.html

Do you think a 240 rad from corsair would be enough to cool it

Is that an AIO? If so, first thing to look at is to ensure that you've pegged the CPU fan header @ 100% in order to allow the AIO unit to have full control. (I'm guilty of wondering why my fans wouldn't spool up to rated speeds until I realised that the header was defaulted to 75% max... ;) ).

So I ran that program it seems they have updated it it only gives you a few options to overclock 4,4.2,4.4 GHz. So I set it to 4.2ghz I ran a cinebench and got a score of 1184 also when I ran the bench my memory nb frequency hit 3000mhz and my dram frequency is at 1068mhz and my vcore never went above 1.261v as for core temps it would hit 50c to 55c and when gaming it would hit 40c

That's not bad at all! For a 5930K, a 500MHz OC with the option of a 700MHz OC is actually close to what you would likely be able to accomplish manually.

I was watching my cpu while gaming I don't think overclocking would even help it lol half the time it didn't even hit 4200mhz it would jump from 1200 to 3200

You can probably do 4.5 but anything beyond that you would need to be smart about how your cooling it
