Default 3200+ Venice 939 Great Overclocker

With the current price of the AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 939 processor this is an ideal low budget overclocker IMO.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0GHz Venice 939 OEM - $88.00

Here is an article from Tech Gauge it is old but it still shows the greatness you can get out of 3200+. They took it from 2.0GHz to 2.7GHz (that's FX-55 speeds) and for a mere fraction of the cost.

Team this up with DFI LANParty UT 939 mobo , good memory and a kick ass video card you have yourself a system that will keep up with most of todays games. I think this is falls in to the best bang for your buck category fore sure.

You can read more of the review here from Tech Gauge

Here a some OC Guides:

FX-55 speed right, but with half the cache size..mine hits a wall around 2650mhz stable. Would boot over 2.8ghz but not stable.

Still a great chip imo. But if I would be in the single-core market i'd deffinitely go with a 3700+ , 1Mb L2 Cache and most of them hit 3.0ghz!

The 3200+s with E6 stepping i've seen usually overclock better than E3s.

MysteryByte Computers still has 3700+s in stock @ $99.

I'd link directly, but that isn't possible with their page layout (wierd frames or something).

If you can, I'd suggest the 3700+ as it has a san diego core (same as the FX55/57 series) with not only larger cache sizes, but the mem controller is improved as well.

Well I guess that's why they are crazy clockers!

That's a great price and I'd save on PST but I wish they would have a tool that would let me figure out how much the shipping is.

They've got a 1-800# for stuff like that. :)

They're a retail storefront so you'll have to catch them during work hours atlantic time.

I've dealt with them a lot as a storefront and never had a problem with them, I haven't however done any on-line order/shipping business with them. (They're halifax based if it isn't obvious from the web page).

I want that process, now as for motherboards it's between two.

DFI LANParty UT NF4 SLI-DR Expert - $137.57

DFI LANParty UT NF4-D - $107.06

If you're not planning to do SLI vote for 100mph hands down. The experts are known to be picky, especially on the RAM. The Ultra-D is non-stop highway to a kick-ass oc.

If you're going with an ATI card there's no need for an SLI board, but I'm not sure about the nF4-d as opposed to the ultra-d.

Seems to me you'd need to mod the board (instructions are available at DIY-Street) to get Sata2, and I'm not sure if the SLI mod works for the -d.
