I figured out the video card thing; it's because the speed is calculated on the RISE and FALL, thus 1kx2 obviously = 2k!

The memory thing is apparently something to do with CPUZ not reporting anything about a certain JEDEC.. not totally sure the details on that.

So this is seeming to be too easy, and that is making me nervous. I've not REALLY oc'd before, I've read about it a lot all these years but was always nervous to do it.

Anyways; I haven't ran PRIM95 for very long I just wanted to see if you guys could tell me if anything in these two pics seems out of sorts, I'll run some lengthy tests once I know for sure. A few things I noted, I have to go well over 3gigs to get my ram to show "Actual MHZ 1000" which is what it's rated at. Is this the whole 1:1/4:5 or w/e ratio thing people talk about? Even though I've read up on that, I'm still not 100% certain how to tell how to make sure I'm there.

I have NOt touched my vcore yet, I havn't got to running tests to see if I need to yet, but considering I'm not pushing much more than 3ghz I should be ok until I run tests and see if I need to or not.

Anyways let me know if you can figure anything out from these pics and if not; let me know what you need to know to help me need to know wtf I'm doing hahahaha Thanks again!

Bump!

I figured it all out now, got the 1:1 thing down pat.

I've been working on it all morning, cannot seem to get it to run stable for more than 30 minutes on any voltage below vcore 1.45

I havn't touched the FSB voltages yet as I'm still sort of figuring everything out.

So far 9x multi @333 for 3ghz vcore 1.4**** still not stable.

It's the same core failing each time, 90% of the time it's core 2 and the other 10% it's core 1. Core's 3/4 have not failed on any tests on any voltage so far ( dosn't mean they won't, just not before the first two do)

core's 1/2 seem to run about 3°-5° hotter on all occasions from idle to full load.

Could this be inconsistent cpu goop or a possibly uneven heatspreader/heatsink base? Or should I even worry about it since my temps are never over 51° (after an hour or two they seem to settle at about 45-49 accross all four) but I'm worried about pushing my vcore anymore, cause nothings been stable so far.. in fact; I'm not trying to push it so i'll back off my clock to 2.8 if need be, to keep my vcores as far away from 1.5 as possible.

my memory is in 1:1 at 666.7mhz/2=333 of course so no issues there. Is it worth going asynchronous for this or not or should I keep pushing synch mode?

Also; I couldn't find my PCI/PCIE frequencies in the bios; should I worry about these busses increasing with my oc?

Replies would greatly be appreciated!

It was the FSB voltage, upped it to 1.25 from 1.20 and got my vcore down to 1.3** so far, I can probably go even lower..

The temp disparity was solved with re-seating my heat sink; now they are all on par with each other and are riding at the lower end of 40's at full load :D

Can't wait to put this thing through a good 24 hours run tomorrow.

No problem with that... Seeing what hoops you need to jump through will probably help somebody in the future who's in the same boat.

You're doing it right though... baby steps to get it up to where you want, and testing all along the way to ensure that you're fault-finding the right snag.

Have you played with the VTT yet? I'm not completely sure what it does, but it's related to the handshake between the cpu and the northbridge. Of all the voltages I ran into when I first started playing with C2Ds it's the one that helped push me over the edge once it seemed I'd hit a wall.

As far as PCI/PCIe freqs go... I'm not sure there is a way to monitor that, but everest would be a good place to start. I normally just set mine to 101 but that's just an old habit from boards which didn't lock the bus if you left it at auto/100.

VTT is the FSB Voltage; I've played with it.. I didn't bother at first but when I was almost hitting 1.5vcore I thought maybe I should try and raise my VTT/FSB voltage because I had increased the speed of it so I had an inclination the VTT would help.. went from 1.20 to 1.25, TINY amount but it allowed me to drop my core voltage all the way down to 1.3 and I believe much lower when I can test more, I think I can do 1.2** area at 3.0ghz in a 1:1 with my memory at 667, and I'm HOPING i can tighten my timings to 4-4-4-12 from 5-5-5-12, the lower speed should allow for at least a tweak of a couple of my timings.. I'm hoping lol, won't be but hurt if i don't.
