Default Question about manual voltgage and idle down

Hey fellas, so I have my pc oc'd at 1.22v at 4.2 and its stable. I also have it at 4900 stable at 1.4v.

Question is now it wont clock down the speed. Its stuck at 4900 instead of lowering to 1600. Is this due to using manual instead of offset on my asus z877 motherboard.

eist or speed step (I am pretty sure) are the settings is BIOS that allow CPU to downclock to 1600mhz at idle.

Manual voltage will force voltage to stay at the fixed value. If you want voltage to lower with load you have to use voltage offset (goes by various names).

Thats how it works on my gigabyte board anyway.

Does it harm anything if it's stuck at 4.9 with no down clock

well....not really. I can't say its going to make it have a short life, but it definitely would be harder on the CPU in the long run, while also using more power.

you might also look at the windows power options, the minimum processor policy affects how it downclocks
