Default E2140 Oc

I'm in the process of OCing my E2140. I currently have it at 2.4GHz and running Orthos blend FFT stress test. My temps to me seem a little high for load 52C is the max I've seen so far. I've been running it for 5mins.

I have a AC7 Pro for a HSF and I'm wondering if I may have to reseat it. I have not up the voltage and in the BIOS it's showing it at 1.32.

I am running a Gigabyte P35-DS3L rev2.0 BIOS F7.

For cooling I have 3 120mm case fans blowing exhaust I don't have any intake fans connected yet. I have a CM690 case. Ambient temp is around 17 degrees.

My goal is to get it to 2.8-3.0GHz on air.

Default UPDATE

I now have it at 2.6GHz with a vcore of 1.35 in the BIOS (1.30) in CPUZ. I'm running Orthos at the moment and temps have peaked to 55C for both cores after 5 mins.

Did you try a re-seat of the cooler? I'll usually do two or three when I get either a new cpu or cooler just to satisfy myself that I've got a decent mount.

I've reseated it twice when I first installed everything. So far my temps haven't peaked past 56C and it's been running for 32 mins.

So my old-and-trusty E2140 is back at work? That's great!

With an ambiant temp so low, the load temp shouldn't be that high. I'm pretty sure that the CPU does not need a lap job (temps were fine with either my AC7 Pro or the Apogee GT), but have you checked the HSF?

Also I would play with your fans - I don't think going with a full blown exhaust setup is the way to go. That chip will need some fresh air to keep cool.

Yea I'm going to play with the fans I might put the top two as intake for now. The ambient temp in the room was 20C I was mistaken with the 17C. I ran Orthos for 8 hours and the highest temp was 57C. I'm going to try reseating the heatsink at some point this week. I'm sure once I get the fans setup with some intake it will run cooler.

Play with the setup - I know that chip is a cool-running one.

I think I will hold off for now. I'm gonna order another 3 more two more fans for intake and hook up the front one for intake as soon as I get a 3 pin to molex adapter. Plus I'll be adding my 40mm Scythe Kaze fan to the NB.
