Default golden ivy bridge?

just wanted to share my i5 3570k overclocking results. so far its at 5.1ghz and being priming for few hours now. i think my chip is golden with the fact that it runs cool and doesnt need that much vcore compared to others. soon to try 5.2ghz.

what are your thoughts?

That's not a golden chip. It's platinum. On water?

platinum = worse or better then golden?

yes its on water. i had to inject some more money into my watercooling to run it that cool cuz before with a 240rad my temps were reaching near lows 80's, and before delidding over 90's.

Although those results are very very impressive, I'm personally of the mindset that 1.415vcore is not so impressive... have you checked your motherboard with a multimeter to see if there is an offset from your software reported vcore and the real vcore?

I had a 3770K that could hit 4.9 in the mid 60s on an Antec Kuhler H2O 620 that I also de-lidded with 1.33 volts vcore, so while that is quite good I don't think it's amazing. You didn't win the silicon lottery but you got enough winnings to have a decent retirement nest egg :)

Ah! My bad I was looking at the core temp VID. But still, I would say if you could get that voltage under 1.4 it would be sweet.

Very nice OC, but I don't think I would push that much voltage.

pretty much impossible and i have not seen yet someone at 5.1ghz under 1.4vcore. but yes would be nice lol

it always depend on the cooling. in my researches i found that pushing high voltage on high temps will degrade the chip. high voltage on low temps isnt as bad. that is why benching on ln2 at uber high voltage normally doesnt kill the chip or even degrades it because there is equilibrium between voltage and temps. intel specs says 1.452v is max for this chip. again i think better the cooling you have the more you can go by this limit or even go over the limit

on my mobo there are voltages read points and measured vcore is on par with what cpu-z displays.

finally after 8hours of prime pc rebooted. i am not satisfied with this so i will tweak some more and probably post resullts when im satisfied.

my goal of 5.2ghz is further away since cus 1.415v is not enough for 5.1ghz i wont imagine 5.2ghz. and i dont want to push to much vcore as im looking for 24/7 oc. there is still some little vcore headroom left and i didnt play with PLL and other voltages yet. there are all at default right now
