My System Specs

Default OC'ing 3930K n Swiftech H320

So finally got the outdoor patio completed today...tidied up the shvt show in the diningroom (always a shvt show in there after I get a build done)...tool shop squared away,,,then plunked myself down in "my chair" (on my patio)...indulged in beer (to start)...then wine...then thought hey....!!!!...I've got my new Swiftech H320 installed lets see what my Chip can get to safely now...seeing as how I now have the Temperature headroom I was lacking with the H100i.

S0, with the H100i I was able to get my 3930K to 4.8 Ghz Stable..Offset +.085v vcore 1.392v Full Load...but Damn...1 core was reaching 89c...ouch!!!!

Now, with my H320 installed, I went for 4.9 Ghz, stable with the following settings:

1. LL Calibration Medium
2. vtt 1.15v
3, vDimm 1.55v
4. Offset +.090v

Results:
20x Passes Linx
vcore idle: 1.408v
vcore load: 1.40v

Max Temps across all Cores while Stress Testing:

78c 74c 68c 70c 76c 78c

In summary:
3930K @ 4.9 Ghz vcore loaded 1.40v

I knew this was a damn good Chip ;) Extremely happy with my decision to invest in a better cooler vs a 4930K

When I OC...since the X58 Platform and my 980X (920 previous to that), I always try to reach a Max OC meeting 2 things:

1. Keeping vcore at or no higher than 1.4v under full load
2. Keeping my Cores at or below 80c while stress testing

I did have this Chip at 5 Ghz for a few Benchmark runs, was didnt test stability....to get thru some Bench runs went to Manual OC Mode (no offset) and went straight to vcore 1.45v
Perhaps I'll see if I can stabilize at 5Ghz..Temp wise I now have the headroom...just dont like cranking above 1.4v

All in all very pleased with this chip...4.9 Ghz will be my 24/7 OC, nice improvement from 4.7 Ghz.

Cinebench @ 4.9 Ghz = 14.08
LinX GFlops 165

cheers

Nice chip and OC. Just curious are you directing air at the MOSFET's with the water-block?

That's why I prefer having my Rad set up as intake, draws room temp air they the rad then pushes air (all beit warmer air) over Mobo.
It was friggin toasty in my PC Room last night while going thru the OC'ing, I'm sure it was 24c in there, load temps will get much better as we get into the Fall, I like to keep that room at around 17c!!

Really nice though as gaming....just finished an hour session of Crysis 3 and my CPU Cores are only a Max Temp of 57c

Sweet! But I always thought 1.4v+ would rapidly decay a chip. Migration or what ever they call it?

Electrical degradation....I believe..;) Pretty confident 1.4v is fine....obviously every Chip is different....my old 980x purred along at 4.2 Ghz @ 1.45v for a couple if yrs and is now grinding away in another build.

I've always pretty drawn the line at 1.4v seems to be a relatively safe max voltage. Well see.....

Well, here's hoping. Nice though. Seems like a pretty golden CPU.

your RAD- top, bottom, front, or hang off rear ?

yes best way cooler air hitting rad not recycled heated air

for me i run rad outside and use 50/50 gylcol for winter hits -20c around here

cpu runs room temp on mild day and cold 10c with no issues in winter (radiant heaters)

summer needed to vapour seal peltier on humid days got sweatting when bare
