One of these days, we'll grab a pitcher or two at the Wally and try to sort out who owns what!

I was actually pumping in a bit more juice than that, about 1.4ish if I recall. Not sure why it showed that, I'm guessing it was just starting to gear down. As for temps, not when I did that run. It was about 27-28 in the room so didn't want to push it more. I have gotten it up to 5.2 briefly before but I don't think I have managed to do that since I filled all 4 banks of RAM.

That said the weather is supposed to be cooling down a bit this weekend so maybe I will give it another go and see if I can push it past you.

Yeah, once you go over 1.4, you get tonnes of extra heat and vastly diminished returns. Hopefully the weather cooperates enough for you to make a run at a cup. For now, though, congrats on the 5th place medal!

Every time you talk about heat issues I think to myself "Hmm will the wife notice if I put that rad in the deep freeze and run my rig this way?"

My freezer is right beside my tech bench its really tempting. instead of a rez use a open container full of Glycol haha

Well that sucked. Finally had a chance to play around with my EVGA X79 FTW + 3930K this weekend, and no matter what I did, Windows would not load if I gave the chip any more than 1.35v. Disabling vdroop at any voltage did the same thing, and my DDR3-2400 RAM would not post at anything higher than DDR3-1600 even with extra Vdimm, Vccio and Vsa. Don't know whether to blame the chip or the board or both. Best I could muster was a lame 4.4 with temps not even reaching 60C at load. Regardless, it's not worth wasting any more time on.

Ouch that sucks. You should be getting way better than that, specially with that memory.

Can't get XTU to work with my Haswell setup either, just gives me an error whenever I push the button (in both Win 7 and Win 8). Will have to try with a different setup to see if I can get it going, and my Haswell chip is horrible, so I'm sure my Ivy will overtake it. At least Cinebench didn't seem to mind my setup.

Have you tried a bios update? Thats all that held me back. One freakin bios update and it now works without issue.
