Default Help Ocing 3960X

Hi all,

My good friend fish and I need some recommendation on Ocing LGA 2011 chipset.

He has Sabretooth board and a 3960X. He can currently oc it with the built in Asus tool to 4.03GHZ.

Sabretooth, 3960x, Kraken X60, Mushkin 2133 quad 16gbs

he has Cracken X60, so the temps wont be too much of an issue. Any help and or advise would be mich appreciated!

On my RIVE I was able to get 4.7 Ghz with acceptable temps and a Max vcore 1.344v
Dont use any Asus Bloatware for OC'ing...as in most OC'ing do this directly in BIOS.

If your trying to run Memory at speeds higher than 1866 Mhz, it certainly will be more challenging, expecially if your running with all Memory Slots populated.

As for my OC, I use the "offset mode" in BIOS and settled on +.04v, this along with Speedstep enabled allows 4.7 Ghz with vcore 1.34v under full load and idle desktop 1.2 Ghz with .898v....LinX stable x20 passes, i've never had a BSOD since setting this up, max temps reach around 60c when gaming on a few cores with an H100i.

Really, that Extreme chip should also reach a nice 4.7 to 4.8 Ghz without too much trouble.

4.05 Ghz isnt much at all beyond the Boost speed ;)

Firestrike Extreme: 21.452
MARK 11: 32.530
