2011 socket, but wont be compatible with current X79's, thanks Intel.

^^^ Please provide link, I've been under the impression the IV-E 4930K and 4960X will be compatible with current Socket 2011 X79 platforms with BIOS update.

Would like to see a source on that too. Haven't seen any articles saying IB-E would require a new mobo revision to use it.

^^^^ No neither have I, everything I've seen says compatible with Socket 2011 X79, obviously your Mobo will certainly require a BIOS update.

I posted this..Intel Ivy Bridge-E slated for September 2013 launch - TechSpot Looks to be compatible to me. I think all that will be needed,is a bios update.

AFAIK IB-E will be X79 compatible. If Haswell-E is indeed LGA2011 like the rumours say, I would guess it will not work w/ X79.

I'm not the only one that thinks it is odd that we are finally getting Ivy Bridge-E 3 months after Haswell is already out. You would think that we should be getting Haswell-E in September not late 2014.
