So I have found something interesting. I think that the newest driver from Nvidia is reducing my performance on Ice Storm. The other day I ran it and got about 176000 and today with the newer drivers I just have barely cracked 171000 and that is with my card cranked way higher. I might just have to roll back a driver to test this.

Interesting!

Another possibility to explore might be that your clocks are so high that the card is throttling during the test.

Whereas before you would simply see a driver crash, newer-gen cards can downclock to stay within the card's power/heat parameters.

Nope definitely the drivers.

So results with the exactly the same clocks 800 core 2048 mem 1600 shader

with 314.22 = 170670

with 314.07 = 176216

So there you go. I will do another run or two and get one of those submitted.

So I finally cracked the 180k mark.

ipaine`s 3DMark - Ice Storm score: 180264 marks with a GeForce GTX 580

The thing is at least on the cloud gate and the fire strike benches my cards are only hitting about 50-60% usage. Very frustrating as I got a better score on fire strike with lower clocks by a long shot. Nothing sucks more than having temps in check and seeing only 11fps while the card is only running at 50-60%.

There is something borked with my 3Dmark13 scores as well and is possibly driver related or ?...

I was getting very low scores on fire and after some searching I found there was a conflict with a MS update patch. I deleted the patch and now my fire score is over 10,000 where it should be.

But even on Ice there has to be a problem... If I disable SLI I get 165,000 on ice on a single GPU and with SLI enabled I get 180,000 so it's only a 10% bump from the second GPU = should be much more IMO.

I thought I had a eureka moment when I turned down my 120hz moinitor to 60hz but it didn't make any difference... Oh well I still have a few weeks to tweak some settings.

Ok so I got rid of that update mentioned by JayDeeHobbit and with that I noticed my fire strike and ice storm scores go up. So here is my newest and most likely best I'm going to get ice storm score.

ipaine`s 3DMark - Ice Storm score: 182205 marks with a GeForce GTX 580

Cool ipaine

But it seems you guys had better break out your multi-core multi-uber folding rigs for your Ice benchmaks.

I posted an Ice question on the Futuremark forums and my question/reply is here.
680 sli low score 3DMark - Page 3
