Back after 4 year hiatus
Hi All. I am sure none of you remember me but I was on quite a bit for a while back in the day (served in the core2 wars). Decided I am a PC gamer after all and dove back in.
I will put up pics in a bit but so far I am happy with my rig. Only 2 things bug me:
- I splurged on a Scythe Mine 2 and get the same temps as with my old Corsair A50? I get a bit better idle temp (who cares) but pretty much identical load temps. Last night was 30-33 idle and 77-79 load.
- Overclocking is too easy, I remember fiddling for WEEKS to get my E6750 stable at 3.6ghz, this 3570k I just went "let's see and all I did was change the multi from 34 to 40 and it was 6 hours prime95 stable, boring lol.
Oh and the difference between Bitfenix's spectre and spectre pro lines is ASTONISHING, I kinda wish I returned the normal 200mm, it is flimsy and weak, the pro could hold up a house and makes an actual breeze under the desk as an INTAKE fan.
Welcome back! I remember you :)
anything after sandybridge is just plain boring
Where as my 939 Operteron was I think 2 weeks to get 3.0 stable on it (since so much was interlinked back in the day).
The BF Spectre Pros are really a premium Fan, that cannot be stated enough.
Welcome back to the club,
Gah, my brain is still stuck in the "4.0 is the holy grail" days. I had my 6750 under water with a 240+120x38 loop and the best I could get was a 3.6 haaa. This thing does 4 with one setting and probably fine on the stock intel cooler (which is smaller than the e6750 one).
I was going to do 2x spectre pro's but I wanted a positive airflow setup so I thought I would do the pro up front and the stadard on top of my Raider case. Happy with the results just with I went prox2 and just undervolted the pro on top. May still do that. I love how the raider case instructions SHOW a pro 200mm installed as an option but I had to cut the front case cover to get it in there, dorks.
I will be going for 5.0 for sure, I hope the Mine2 cooler makes itself known as I go higher, so far I am annoyed at it lol.
Any good guides or tips on 3570k o/cing? I am baffled by the bios stuff now haha I was pretty damn good with it on AMD/p35 era boards but there are so many more options now. I am looking for a LIVABLE o/c, not just benchmarks. i need it to run all day and not piss my wife off with weird stuff haha. Most of what I have found is more "peak o/c" stuff.
Hmmm, not much really. Try to keep temps under 80 for 24/7 stability, under 90 as a hard ceiling to aim for. turn up your load line calibration if you're getting blue screens under load. That's basically all there is to it. IF you have the cooling, you can turn your voltage up high enough to get to 5.0 Ghz... To hit 5.0 though, you either need a remarkably good chip, or some seriously good cooling. As a reference, I have an H80i, and what I would consider is an average chip, and I can comfortably do 4.7. I'm not sure I would be comfortable pushing it to 5.0 with my current cooling setup.
Nice things about these cpus is that they ramp up for huge OCs but then will kick down to 1.6ghz at idle. Best of both worlds.
I don't remember you, but I'm sure my mother does....
Hello and welcome back! I have my 3570K folding at 4725MHz@1.38V with temps under 75C on a H100i cooler. I was so easy to do.......nice thing about this chip. Time to get yours folding too......
