^^^^ Are you guys talking about the additional 6 Pin PCI-E Power plug adjacent to the EZ Plug on the RIVE Mobo? If so, I certainly would use it if your going with 2 or 3 GPu's in your RIVE, I'm presently using mine and yes, a Molex to 6 Pin PCI-E adapter is fine as the power draw through this is not the same as plugging directly into the GPU.
I would never recommend using the adapter for a GPU, but for the PCI-E power plug on the Mobo the adapter is fine.

For 2 GPU's you're right, the additional PCI-E power plug is not mandatory, but should be used to ensure clean n ample power to PCI-E.

With my 3 GTX 680's requiring all 6 PCI-E power plugs from AX1200 PSU, obviously I have no more PCI-E power connectors to plug one more into the RIVE, so I used one dedicated Molex from my PSU to a PCI-E adapter (came in one of my GPU boxes).
Not sure what the "tech" is talking about, this set up is fine, maybe he thinks youre planning on using the adapter to plug into your GPU, which isn't recomended, particularly for high power draw high end GPU's.

Yeah, with 3 titans I figured it would be wise to use all 3.

After that I likely won't need it but will probably leave them hooked up, so I can find them,....

Well that's going to have to wait a little longer, just went to try some cables and couldn't even do that, damn back!!!

I think I waste more time when doing things waiting for my back to give me a break.

Percs help 1 way but make things worse another. After 3 days of no throne activity I start to feel just like I'm more full of S^&t than usual.

Wife concurs...Gee thanks hon.

4/8 split???? Noooo go Motherboard connectors straight, don't go molex for the standard motherboard connectors...
If there is a 6 pin it is PCI-E, you don't *need* it so either skip or do molex to pci-e.. Otherwise forget it..

^^^ Great Scores...considering $3.2K worth of GPU's :) Now...beef that score up further by OC'ing that 3960X to levels that its capable of ;) Just got my 3930K stable at 4.9 Ghz...!!!

Yeah, I sure wouldn't mind finding that sweet spot. Don't know much yet. Looking at adjusting voltages but have to do more reading.

Other than disabling a few functions in the bios and adjusting the bclk and multiplier I haven't done anything else.

^^^ IV been able to reach both 4.8 and 4.9 by simply changing the mult and adding vCore, set LL Calibration to Medium.
I am using offset mode to keep the chip down clocked when I'm not gaming etc.

Still not getting anywhere yet. Back to he books and the ROG site next I guess.

Thanks for the heads up RJ on those bios adjustments. Still struggling with that so I'll be writing stuff down to keep it fresh.
