Hey I got a question - I know Vantage scales well with lots of CPU threads, but is there an upper limit to its scalability? Anything gained going from 12 threads to 24? Or from 24 threads to 48?

I know that it definitely scales up to 8 threads, or at least four cores and HT is better than 4 cores. There must be an upper limit but I don't know what it is or how much the CPU score is weighted to your total score.

I'll do some experimenting with my SR-2 tonight. It has OEM X5679s in it (not ES), so it might be useful if Vantage scales well.

Either way, I've got a GT 530 on its way... So that should take care of the obscure parts for Stage 5.

1- I have a 5800K trinity set up I just picked up, best gpu I'd be able to use would be a good clocking gxt 670.

3- 3770k & 3960X for bclk

4-FM2 is needed for amd superpi

Short of finding some older gear that's about all I'll be able to add. Those little european countries have it easy, everybody lives so close together it's a lot simpler sharing hardware

I would be able to contribute to stages 1 & 4;

Stage 1 - A10 5800K w/ Matrix 7970, Giga - F2A85X-UP4

Stage 4 - AMD processors - X2 550
X3 720
X4 955
X4 980
X4 960T
X6 1100T
X6 6300
X8 8350

No help here for the other stages, sorry. In Calgary for anybody interested in hardware sharing?

That setup should work good for Stage 1 for sure. I posted an FM1 score last night for Stage 4 using my FM1 HTPC since I think I either blew up my A8 FM1 or the motherboard. It was running in the BIOS and then just quit. Wouldn't turn back on. Stupid ECS and no time to troubleshoot it last night. Would hate to see how that little A4 screams if I try and really overclock it. LOL

Updated OP so that people can see what is missing if they have some hardware to fill the holes.

So here's the verdict. Vantage still scales at higher thread counts - but like you said, the CPU score doesn't really seem to matter much at all.

12C, HT off - CPU score 35628, GPU score 4360 --> P5585

12C, HT on - CPU score 44501, GPU score 4302 --> P5557

(This is with everything stock: 2 x X5679s and a GT 240)

So even though the CPU score is significantly higher with HT on, the randomly higher GPU score during the HT-off run results in a higher overall score.

Wow didnt realize that CPU score was worth basically nothing

It might actually be a case of their is a hard limit and you can only gain a set number of points towards your total score in CPU, once you pass the threshold you don't receive any more points. Of course, the high speed means your GPU isn't limited but that is all secondary.

From what I can tell, I believe the three scores are actually for SB, IB and SB-E.
