5Ghz is pretty optimistic on these chips m8. Too hot even for the best H20 setup.

good luck if you go for it. Hopefully it would pay off and balance out those cores temps.

My core temps vary a lot when idle. Under load they all hover within 3 degrees of each other. I think removing the IHS is the way to go. That seems to be the cooling bottleneck right now. :( I'd love to try it.. but I don't want to destroy my less than 1 month old chip :(

If you do it let me know how it goes. Haha maybe if its real easy I'll give it a try.

Have you checked with any pharmacy? I just did a quick google search and apparently it is a behind the counter pharmacy item. It's a medical grade adhesive remover.

Went to a few last night like Rexall and the like they said they can all order it in. so this weekend I might have to do that. but my God Mother is a DR. So I am going to ask her if she can get me a small thing of it from work.

I would definitely go that route first. After reading that thread I linked there are several people who killed their chip while de lidding. Sometimes just as little as 1 tiny knick.

I will use solvent remover for sure then go from there. I have zero desire to destroy this fine overheating chip haha.

Not sure if it is fully stable, but spent this evening with my 3770k and hit 4.5Ghz with 1.12vcore (offset AUTO -0.06v) and load temps are between 50c and 60c. Prime95 25.11 has run for an hour running small FFT with no issues. Thing does not like elpida Hypers, so will switch ram kit and see what that does to help mem overclocking. Anything over 1600Mhz on the mem and it starts to hang.

If I can keep these temps I wont be de-lidding just to hang onto my warranty. I should knock on wood, my chip buying luck is always way above average :)

My batch info is 3237B804

Gonna let it ride for a couple hours and will post some screens. Might be able to lower Vcore even more

Here is a cap from the first hour.

Max temps are off because my Aqauero XT has occasional fits and reboots itself. Have two and they are both crap
