3570k super hot? I have a P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 MB and I clocked my 3570k to 4.3GHz, but as soon as prime95 starts it reaches temperatures over 95 degrees Celsius and I stopped it right away. I have it 1.2V, running a Hyper 212+ with the stock fan pulling and a scythe kaze-jyuni ultra high flow pushing. I read around and I saw people with the Hyper 212+ with the stock fan alone having MUCH better temperatures. |
Yea that is very hot at 1.2v. You might want to check that the cooler is mounted correctly. You probably should take it off and reapply the thermal paste and reattach. The Ivy Bridge chips do run much hotter than the 2600/2700K, especially when overclocked but that seems somewhat excessive. What is it running at idle? |
I would watch this video if I were you. This ASUS rep states that prime95 could potentially damage 3rd generation processors. Watch at 4:00. Newegg TV: Ivy Bridge Overclocking Guide with ASUS for Intel 3rd Generation Core CPUs 3770K Z77 1155 - YouTube |
i'll switch the stress program, at idle/regular use it runs from anywhere between 32 celcius to 57 celcius, this was over 3hrs |
sorry for the double post, but under aida64 what should i stress for my OC. it has CPU, FPU, Cache, System Memory, Local disks, and GPU. CPU for sure and probably not GPU, but what about the others? sorry i'm a noob :X |
Just CPU. No need to stress your RAM or HDs for a CPU overclock. |
Is that with 64 bit 27.7 build 2 newest ? as other typed check cpu instal, paste and cpu cooler |
it seems odd to me. I tried this on 3770K at auto bios OC 4.6 1.3V ... Prime95 for 2secs only caused instant temps to 101C . kinda makes me doubt that temp reading... ergo Prime95 is BS and now gone from my stress test progs. |
ya i guess prime95 really doesn't test the cpu right it just causes it to heat up to a crazy level but i did find that aida64 also seems to keep the temps really low for some reason why i dont know |
what I really didn't like was that even after 10 minutes of waiting after stopping Prime 2 of 4 cores still read 88C .... reboot and they came into normal range. very strange behaviour. |
