stability loss? ANYTHING over stock is not perfectly stable, or the chip maker would have bined it to that. all be it user's wouldn't/can't test for stability as good as the company, and we don't need it to be that stable. true, ram speed has very little effect on performance. but when you add it all up, the ~5% boost from bandwidth, the ~3-5% boosts from higher ram speed's, the ~xx% boost from overclocking the cpu, it all adds up, and pretty quick to.

But it all adds up to higher benchmark scores with almost no real world gains. That is what I am getting at. If you want to highest 3D Mark score, then you need all the bandwidth you can find. But for real world 24/7 use, slightly higher bandwidth is meaningless when your PC is BSODing all the time.

...I tried to recover the bios by removing the bios jumper, loaded the disk and the system beep again.

Ok what's the beep code?

Time to start removing everything but the bare necessities to see if you can get it to post. (This is where I normally pull out my trusty pci vid card).

Double check to ensure that all of your power and fan connectors are properly made, and pull all but one of your mem sticks. Remove any extra pci cards you are running, and drop back to one ide hard drive (we're not trying to boot into OS at this time, just trying to get you into bios).

Your options are limited considering you don't seem to have other parts available to test with. I'd have to say something is dead, but it is a matter of figuring out what. I'd start with the mobo. What voltages were you pushing when this happened? Quad core CPU's also seem to be punishing boards when they are overclocked.

Extra bandwidth IS NOT worth the abuse these boards take when pushing like this. Some people will not agree, but it does NOT add up and does NOT help in real world applications. The ONLY place you see that little bit of bandwidth doing anything is synthetic benchmark scores.

RMA the board and hope for the best with regards to your other components. Unless of course you have another CPU to test with, that is about the only thing I can think of that you can do.

I change the motherboard and everything is fine now. I had a spare mobo just in case...

...learn my lesson!

I will try to find out the problem later!

Thank you all!
