Default TO those contemplating IHS removal on Ivy...

Look for a product called "Solvoplast". It is a bandage adhesive removal agent sold in drug stores and turns the adhesive on the IHS that binds it to the chip really soft, allowing you to easily cut through it and minimize damage to the core.

I used it allot back in my K7 days. I would stick the chip upside down in just enough to cover the adhesive in a tupperware container and put the lid on for 24 hours, then grab a double edge razor and I would be done 30 seconds later. Would be 10 seconds but I would take my time :)

With the temp issues with ivy and so much chatter about de-lidding, I thought I would bring this up again.

I would in a heartbeat... if I had IB :)

Hopped on the X79 Express a few weeks ago

Just remembered how well this stuff worked, so I thought I would pass my experience on. I de-lidded about 15 K7's and the only core I damaged was from a clip mount aircooler.
