TO those contemplating IHS removal on Ivy...

Hey, awesome!

I usually left the chip upside down in enough to cover the adhesive for about 24 hours, and never felt like more time would have made it easier. I also used the Gillette double sided razor cut in half for safety reasons.

Well, it's been 20 hours. Tried to delid at around the 12hour mark using a box cutter blade but had no luck. Need to wait for my DE blades to arrive. I think mounting my D14 compressed it a bit too much

I think box cutter blade is too thick and not quite sharp enough. Should mave much more luck with the think blades.

Yep, you were right. Feather DE blades went through it like butter but one corner refused to let go so it took about 40min to remove it. There was a ton of suction which made getting the ihs off really hard. Soaking the ihs in solvo at the moment so I don't know if it works yet

And that looks so dangerous... A drop on the pins = bye bye CPU?

they de-lid to lower temperatures by changing the stock paste that intel decided to use on the ivy cpus. between the core and the ihs also intel cpus do not have pins...

I did have an issue with suction a couple times. I ended up just letting it dry after cutting for a couple hours.

A drop of what on the pins? You could soak the whole proc in this stuff and no damage, only reason I never covered more of the proc is not to waste Solvoplast. It will not harm the proc, and it is a LGA proc, so no pins.

If you have a Safeway with a drug store in it you might get it there. Where I got my first bottle way back when. Still rocking the same bottle :)
