Can you rephrase your last reply? 'cause you should not have voltages in the 2.56V region...

Bump your vCore. You can do up to 1.4v for 24/7 use. I'd try about 1.32V, that seems to get most E8400's to 4.0.

My E8400 has been running solid now for almost a year at 4.05 Ghz on a 780i Chipset.
Pretty much everything at "Auto""
vCore - 1.45v
FSB 1800 Mhz Mult x9
Note that my Chip is one that requires higher voltages than the newer Chips. Don't be afraid to push some Voltage to that CPU, particularly if your BSOD right off the bat!!
I found a significant jump in required Voltage from 3.8 Ghz to 4.05 Ghz ie 1.35625v to 1.45v.
You shouldn't have to adjust your MCP or SSP, just leave in Auto.
Wow, its been awhile since I "monkeyed" with the 2nd Rig...I've forgotten my settings hahahaha.

Good luck!

Oh well whats another 2 hrs. I just hope when i get it stable i don't have to readjust because i am getting readt to put 2 260 ftw cards in. We'll see i guess

If youre Rig is "stable" at 4.05 Ghz you should be able to run continuous loops of OCCT or Prime short / blended for literally hours on end...."hangin in their" for 2 hrs of OCCT only doesn't prove its a stable OC.
If you had a "puke" with 15 minutes left of OCCT you still aren't pushing enough vCore to your chip.See my quote above..."required Vcore from 3.8 to 4.05 Ghz"...go for 1.4v then if its stable..lower it and try, if its not, go for 1.425V etc etc. Your being an EO steping Chip should require less Vcore than my CO, but their are still no guarentees.

Good luck!

Well I did it finally i am at 4.05ghz now @1.325volts. Ran occt 2hrs large with no errors. I played ut3 black all day today never shutting down and no problems. I will put her in a loop over night and see what happens. Seems pretty stable so far on hit 45c full load don't know what idle is because it's sticks at 42c. Thanks for all the input and help you all have given me. I appreciate it.
