Overclocking my BFG8800GT

Hey Guys I'm new here and what better place to turn then here for this question. I recently bought a 8800gt installed the artic cooler s1 and frankensteined some fans on it to provide cool air aswell as exhaus the hot fins. My question is I began OC with ati tool to test for artifcats and rivatuner to adjust the clocks and monitor my temps. WIth a case temp of around 33-39, I was Oc and not getting any temps on my card above 57 degrees. My question is, I was getting snowflakes as soon as my temperature hit 57 degrees, so right now im stuck with a clock around 750 which would be fine with a stock cooler but I got a big beefy one and my temps are friggin low being only 57? Any suggestions. THanx

First, welcome! Second, did you add any heatsinks to the Ram chips?

Yep the accelero comes with them so I put them on every heatsink, I also havn't started touching the ram clock, I did reapply some thermal and reput on the cooler and it seems to idle at 36 steady now, so I will try and oc tonite and see if it will stay lower.

Don't forget to unlink the Shaders from the core clock when oc'ing.

I have them unlinked. I have the clock up to 760 now running smooth for 10 minutes no artifacts or errors but bump it to 765 adn they appear immediatly. Its also weird because my card is running at only 54 degrees when this happens, does temp only cause the artifacts or errors or could it be my coltage I see many people have done the voltage mod, but i got no floppy LOL

Not 2 cards (and not 2 CPUs) oc the same... did you raise the PCI-e volts in the BIOS?

NO i havn't because I dont' have a floppy, i was going to try and find another method.

You don't need a floppy to raise the PCI-e volts in the BIOS...

what mobo you using, I have a BFG 8800GT OC, and get good OCing on it. but of course depends on mobo, to tell you how to get into it.
for my Asus P5K I just press the delete button and get into BOIS that way.
