Question Overclocking HELP!!

Hey! I want to overclock my cpu, but i don't have a clue about how to do it. I have searched aound but haven't find anything useful. Thats why im asking you! :)

I have an Asus P7P55D-E LX motherboard, an intel I7 870 2.9GHz, Coolermaster V10 CPU-Cooler, 400watt PSU and two RAM memories with 4gb each with 1333MHz.

So i wonder how much I'm able to overclock my processor to?, and what settings i should use in my bios?. My "Mission" is to oc my cpu to 4GHz if that's possible.

Thanks!

Miahallen at TechReaction wrote some of the best overclocking guides I have seen.

Read through them, follow the steps, and you should learn alot along the way.

Here is a link for the Lynnfield guide.

There's no specific settings for any motherboard.

Just raise the bclk by 10mhz at a time, stopping to run prime 95 for at least an hour. Then when you find an overclock that fails prime95 raise the voltage a bit and run prime 95 for a while and keep going from there till you hit your desired 4.0, then run Prime for 24 hours. If it doesn't crash then you're good.

check out this guide: P55 overclocking guide, and this quick vid: linus' P55 overclocking tutorial

For 4.0GHZ you will probably need about 1.375Vcore set in bios.
