Default i7 920 overclocking issues...

I am having problems trying to OC my i7 920 system. I can get the system to boot but windows 7 refuses to start up. I have played with voltages and timings, and still no luck. I have done a fresh install of windows 7 and it still won't boot.

My System: i7 920 (Hoping to run it at 4.0), Evga X58 3xSLI 1366, 3x2gb Mushkin 1600 @ 7-8-7-20, GTX 275 + 9800GT, Corsair 1000w. CPU liquid cooled, GPU's on air.

BIOS:
CPUCLK - 20X
CPUFRQ - 200MHZ
UNCORE - 16X 3205mhz

MEMFRQ - 2:8 1067
TIMINGS = 7 8 7 20

CPUVCR - 1.4000V
CPUVTT - +300MV
DIMMVL - 1.65V
QPIVCR - 1.4V
IOHVC - 1.4V
IOC/ICH - 1.650V
PMWFRQ - 1067khz

Try lowering your vtt to around +100mv - 150mv and lower your BCLK to 190 Mhz, try and get a stable 3.8 Ghz prior to going for 4Ghz, your chip may simply require higher vCore for 4Ghz. Have you gotten it stable at 3.8Ghz yet?

Those settings above wont even boot into Windows?

Lowered my VTT to 150mv and saved, and it booted to windows, went to run Prime95 and it BSOD and 2nd round froze. I was at temps of Max 60 and low of 30 in real temp.

yess that vtt is way too high around 100-125 should do it
and reduce the pwm frequency around 8xx

raise the memory speed the uncore is way high
set your memory speed to 1600 for uncore of 16x3200
you might even be able to do 1600mhz and uncore of 17x
set memory voltage to 1.67
memory voltage droops on that board

I made those changes, and I got 1 boot out of it... It seems to try skipping the 2nd black & white screen... Once I was in the system ran until I tried to run prime 95, an it bSOD

Went back and checked all the numbers and it's holding steady at the moment, I have to press the delete key after the first black&white screen to get it to boot??? Once it boots about a 1 in 3 chance it will, I am running prime95 getting 80degrees at the moment... How can I push it closer to 4.0???

im new to overclocking, but maybe this might help. I know your UCLK Frequency should be double, but my setup likes it on Auto.
another thing was my Ram was SPD speed 9-9-9-24 and Tested 9-10-9-27, im not sure what the SPD speed is, but i know my ram only excepts 9-10-9-27.
if I use 9-9-9-24 i get problems somewhat similar to what your discribing.
I'm thinking its ram related.
like i said though im a greenhorn at Overclocking.
Good Luck Mate

Thanks all, I've got it holding steady and stable at 3.85ghz for now. I ran Prime95 for 10hrs and it was fine, didn't go over 80 degrees!
