X58 OCing Hey everyone. Well this is not my first time OCing, but it is for a LGA1366 i7 950 So I read a few threads on OCing the X58. But I want to know is this correct Gigabyte easy turner 6 Now the room temp is 26C out side right now is 29C at 2:30AM so 4.3GHz pretty good stable no issues ran a few stress test, any new stress programs out for the i7 chips here is a pic http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...690b9ac797.jpg |

I think IntelBurnTest (IBT) and Prime95 are the well known ones. IBT works really well for the quad core i7's, but I've heard that it's not so great on the hex cores. Prime95 is also a really good one. Which ones did you use to test the stability of your current overclock? |
I use the prime95. tested for 8hrs, so its stable at 4.3GHz, but wanted to see if there was something new for the i7 chips will try the IBT one and see. http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...91de3e2938.jpg |
real test in linx i dont do it for long anymore i do 30 min prime 30min linx real test is gaming you can prime all day n run 40 passes of linx n crash in game lol |
Going to download linx and run it,at same time with prime. I game BC2 with no issues, I will run prime and game and see. |
For stability, run Linx + Furmark - even if the GPUs aren't OC'd. Sometimes, a perfectly stable CPU will fail when gaming because the GPUs suck enough from the PSU's 12v rail to cause ripple or to cause line regulation deviation in excess of what is required to keep the CPU stable. And you don't have to run it for long - an hour is more than enough. 24hr Prime runs are a thing of the past. |

Ok running link and Furmark right now, will see what happens in the next hour or so. Thanks |
