So do the higher quality sealed top caps ever fail?
The smaller electrolyte caps did not have the perfored vents too, but it does not mean that they cannot fail. They do fail. The polymers (the new, "higher quality" caps) are w/o the electrolyte, so they are supposed to hold better. But the companies rate them at 2000h with 105C too, same as quality elytes.
(that figure 200h at 105C means that when you cool them down to 45C, then they are guaranteed to hold up for 14,6 years)

However under stress and bad caps from PSU even the polymers fail badly. Check there:
Horrible pictures of dead caps

Not only ECS boards had bad caps... and not only that bad caps are always the same - server mainboard, Dell Precision 450 with Nichicon caps, user markp, OC AU firum - yes, this is the infamous bad batch of the Nichicon caps ;)

Entilza - something for you: Asus P5K-E - exploded Fujitsu polymer cap 270uF 16V in the Vcore input filter phase:

Why? Because user NewBeetle from Xtremesystems forum overclocker with OCZ PSU, only 520W and full of Teapo caps...
Please note the capacitor explosion of P5K-E
(besides, the input caps for Vcore filter are - according to the electrolyte caps specs verzus polymers - suboptimal and quality hi-capacitance electrolytes works better there, even Intel O/C designs used them... yet todays the marketing dictate to use polymers everywhere, so... not exactly good after all....)

Zotac 7300GT gfx card, Sacon caps, user vlask, SHW forum

PS. Zotac "fixed" gfx card the way it cought on fire: http://www.svethardware.cz/forum/showthrea...ll=1#post283635
...and the quess what! Zotac refused to acknowledge that it is their fault and because it label it as "physical damage", it the refused RMA! Of course when card caught fire, it is physical damage, you... But the user just played a game, not burned the card inside of running PC, because he want to kill it...!
