True, it is pretty old. But the same caps are used over and over - they just moved them to PSUs, where they are not right on the sight, as on mainboards and cards, where people - thanks to such pictures above - started to notice that some of the componets are just known to fail

Anyway, clearing out the old pics - there is something Socket A like - OST cap picture from SETI forum - the extraterrestials got him!

OST cap on Asus P5AD2 Premium, used about half year with P4 3.6 GHz (Prescott core rev. D0 (119A current draw...) )

Another trick is to make logos very closely reassembling known good caps, like this example. Find a difference between logos of known bad caps Fuhjyyu and Hitachi, who make good caps:



...if we did not fake entierly it, then we make it at least as hard to distinguidh them, as possible, right?

Another clever idea is to use known good brand cap that can take some overvolting and such... and try to pass it as own cap with higher specs. China made cap - and this is not shoped!

Don't let them fool you. They are NOT polymers, these are sleevless electrolyte caps, and a bad ones, I might add. JetWay do this all the time. Remember their mobos full of GSC crap-caps?
