Dry Ice overclocking! Celeron and Pentium D!

Hey everyone, I know I've been talking about this for a while, but I finally did it with the help of my friend. I think we did pretty good for our first shot at extreme cooling.

We have validations, but I need to get them off my HD. It was more of a fun experience than anything; I found out that my CPU's didn't like getting more than 1.75V pumped into them, and that they don't like to cooperate after pushing them too far. (Shucks, only grabbed validations and screenshots at ~4.6Ghz with the Celeron, because the other validations were corrupted. Pentium D would not let me have time to screenshot the results before the BSOD, and all of a sudden, it was time to go).

I believe we got the Celeron from 2.5Ghz to 5.2Ghz and the Pentium D from 2.66Ghz to 4.9Ghz!

vaseline is for ladies...give it to your CPUs dry and if they don't like, they can fry :)

seriously though, nice to see another person get cold. there is nothing like the anxiety the first time. but i warn you...once you go sub-zero, you will never want to go back. it becomes an addiction real fast.

Thats awesome, I have been dreaming of doing the same thing for a long time now.

However I am tired of seeing Intel always being super cooled... We need some AMD's in the mix.

Possibly due to the fact AMD simply doesn't overclock near as well as Intel does

oh it definitely hasn't gone anywhere. the newer rev AM2 CPUs are really bad on the whole with cold bug issues showing up at even positive temperatures. i still haven't seen a lot of data on Phenom cold bug yet but it's pretty obvious that its there. on-die memory controller is still the likely culprit so we have that to look forward to when Intel goes on-die if it is true.

BTW, what pot are you using? obviously ALU, but who's?

AMD cold bug = PITA. AMD performance = lacking. Verdict, bench intel. :p

Good job man, I can recommend a good hwbot team for you. ;) Oh and the vaseline is toootally unnecessary for a short dicing session. Its just to stop corrosion for 24/7 sub zero.

Then prove to me that AMD can overclock just as well as Intel
