First Successful Overclock

Well my new system is built, DFI Lanparty DK P35-T2RS, 2 x 1024 crucial ballistix ram PC2-8500, eVGA 8800gts 512mb, E6750 with an auzentech x-meridian sound card, all in my Antec 900

Was able to get the E6750 up to 3.6ghz which I am happy with so far and the timings of the ram are at 4-4-4-12 2t with a CPU Core Voltage at roughly 1.38 - 1.420 (or something similar)
Idle temps range from 30C-35C and load temps range from 54C-57C when running Orthos with small FFT's

going to read up some more on raising the ram up, is being at a different ratio than 1:1 good or is it best to stay at that ratio?

the cpu heatsink is the thermalright Ultra 120a with a Noctua fan in the push position, the heatsink is horizontal would it be better in the vertical position or should I just keep it how it is?

aslo does it benefit changing other ram options or best to keep all those at auto have a ton of options in the bios for this DFI Board,

I will post pictures as soon as I take some (is there an easy way to take a screen capture? (never taken any)

Push printscreen to take a screencapture of the entire screen to the clipboard, then paste into your favourite image editing app.

Or Vista includes a screenshot tool that can take screenshots of specific areas, including single windows.

Vista doesn't have much that needs to be tweaked for performance, see this guide.

Temps look fine, it's time to play with the settings. can you lower the VCore, and still be stable? It would give you more headroom temp-wise, and you could increase the OC some more.

Tweaking memory settings outside of the auto settings can have a huge impact on performance. Best to get your cpu OC down and stable first though and then set aside a weekend to tweak the memory settings (it can be mind numbing.... :) ).

Thanks sswilson noticing that a lot. Well it looks like the E6750 needs to be at 1.424 VCore as it drops to 1.408 with VDroop when the cpu is underload, anything below that gives me a hardware failure in Orthos after 9secs to 2mins.

Ram right now is still running at 4-4-4-12 2t with its voltage at 1.975 or something like that. so looks like I have a stable CPU overclock, will run orthos again tomorrow while I am at school to see how it goes again, hehe I like double and triple checking at times.

Should I increase the ratio at all to get the speeds higher for ram, to start that is, or is the 1:1 ratio best?

well ran orthos again and today the temps are getting up to 62C - 63C beginning to think that the heatsink isn't seated properly and I know the thermalright thermal paste that came with the heatsink isn't the greatest will take off the thermalright ultra 120a and clean them both up nice and good and reapply some thermal paste. will keep you updated as been reading some reviews about these processors and most are able to hit 3.6ghz with stock voltage maybe its the motherboard I decided on honestly I don't know let me know what you guys think please and thank you

even when set to stock everything the temps are 34-36c at idle which seem high to me going to put the stock heatsink on and see what the temps are like
