I have the same CPU/Heatsink/RAM as you do and my idle temps are 34C or so, so it's pretty normal. As for the RAM, I've found that more Mhz is almost always better than tighter timings, unless you're shaving it really close. I run my FSB at 479, so at 1:1 my ram runs at 958Mhz, 4-4-4-12.

I pushed it to 1200Mhz (4:5 FSB ratio), but I had to loosen the timings at lot (6-5-5-6-18 I think, I'd have to check) and Everest gives me *much* better RAM performance than the tighter timings at 1:1.

As my sig says, it's an Asus P5K-E/WI-FI. It's basically a rebranded Deluxe (same PCB), except there's only one network adapter (in addition to the wireless one) and I think a missing heatsink on the southbridge. Really satisfied with it so far.

Your temps might be a little bit high I guess, they're a bit higher than mine at load. I get 60C at full load, maybe 61C if the room's warm. CPU is running at 3.8Ghz @ 1.45v. I do have 2 fans on my heatsink in push/pull config, I'm not sure if that might be the difference.

thanks Spblue, now pricing out my other computer to go with the E8400 not sure what motherboard to get though, going to use the same ram, heatsink and fans but different case, power supply (probably an OCZ again just a bigger one) same video card and a couple 500gb hdd's, eventually going to get a Mountain Mods Duality and water cool both systems but that might be awhile haha, unless I find a tree that has money growing on it
