2600k Overclocking

I have one of these coming in. Does anyone have any overclocking experience with them? I would like to know what to expect. I will be using a Noctua NH D14 for cooling.

seriously, it's by far the easiest cpus to OC depending to where you wanna go. Under 4.8 is a real piece of cake.

you'll probably want to experience different level of "load line calibration" or vdroop if you prefer. Because with eist on, voltage and multis varies a lot.

enable internal pll overvoltage if you wanna boot with +48x multi

It is gonna be used for folding. Hoping to get 100% cpu usage 24/7 @ 4.5. Higher would be great.

the nh-d14 is sweet I run it on my x6 1090t, runs nice, if you do email nuctua and request the extra bracket to hold the 3rd fan for an extra pull fan, will drop temps even more by 2-5

How about 5ghz? I'm waiting for enthusiast B3 mobo to come back in stock to order mine, just wondering whats in store for me. I will be using a Thermalright Silver Arrow for cooling. Ideally I'd like a 5ghz clock with hyperthreading, motherboard I'll have to see, I usually aim for enthusiast motherboard 300-400$ sadly I dont think evga will launch a classified in time for my hunger so I'll probably go gigabyte or whichever comes first ASUS/Gigabyte prolly.

From what I've read you don't need a super expensive board to get really good overclocks on these chips.

just get a decent board with the accessories/features you want, the 300-400$ 1155 boards won't bring more overclock just more features, it's up to you to decide what you want on your mobo and what you can live without.

5ghz?
no problem but it all boils down to the CPU, most will do it, but they don't do it with decent volt.
On water i'd say 5ghz is no problem. I,m running mine a 5ghz daily fully loaded @ 1.44v but with eist it varies a lot so it's not fixed at this voltage.

My parts came in today. So I should have my overclocking answer this evening. Will post results.....hoping for 4.8 ghz...fingers crossed.

Well...made it to 4.6 ghz. Ran prime95 for about 20 minutes, all was well. went for 4.7 ghz....15 minutes later I got back into the bios and actually got it to load windows. Yikes....figured I had killed a sandybridge in 1/2 hour.....would have been a new record...lol

What kind of voltage are you setting at 4.6+GHz?

I've got mine stable at 4.5GHz with 1.25Vcore (3 hrs of Prime95), but working my way down to get a cooler temp, but still stable system (failed at 1.215).
