My System Specs

Default Think this is overclockable?

I overclocked my old pc a evga 680i with a dual core to 3.2ghz but I never thought about overclocking my current pc. It's not really high end or anything just the basics really, here's what I got:

Q9400 2.66Ghz
Gigabyte EP45-UD3L Motherboard
And 4GB Ram *not sure on the timings or anything really*

Think I would be able to oc this to about 3.0ghz? I have gotten the odd BSOD which I've googled and it's said my memory could be hitting the bucket (need to run memtest on it) I've got a massive heat sink as well and my cpu is 40c under 50% load throughout the whole day. What would you suggest I try for a overclock at first and work my way up? I'm pretty noobish when it comes to overclocking though, with my evga I just upped the FSB a little bit and ran prime 95 for a day and it was ok. Thanks guys.

Absolutely it's overclockable, as long as your memory can take it.

sorry, Im tired. MOTHERBOARD is holding it back. FSB is 433 (one mhz higher = LE CRASH!) voltage is 1.47, the (P.O.S) mobo droops to 1.44.

looking good. first of all, get some airflow over the mobo, then drop multi and cranck the fsb while having the ram on lowest divider. and then you worry about bringing the cpu multi up. take it easy with the juice
