My System Specs

Default Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe bios 1302

I just want to see if anyone that has this board with the new bios has seen any improvements in overclocking. I have managed a stable overclock of a 250mhz FSB memory at 1000mhz ddr and my cpu at 2.25ghz with a 9x multiplyer. My cooling suffice to say is adequate for a higher clock rate but I think this motherboard is the craps for overclocking and I don't think my x2 3800+ will take much more.

Current setup:
Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Bios rev. 1302
AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ (cur. 2.25ghz)
OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Gold GX XTC (cur. 500mhz DDR2 5-5-5-15 2.0v)

If anyone could offer me any advice on getting a better overclock or how to navigate this boards current bios I'd be very appreciative.

Regards,

EE

I flashed to that firmware and got to 2.5ghz stock voltage. I have a 4200+ and Scythe Ninja. Sorry I can't help with the overlocking, seeing as my friend does it for me :P I was trying to go from 2.7ghz to 2.8ghz, but it wouldn't last 20minutes in Orthos.

Try lowering your RAM speed so that it's closer to 400/800. Then you might be able to push the FSB more. You may also need to increase the voltage to the CPU.

I have the exact same setup but with the OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum XTC Rev. 1 (cur. 400mhz DDR2 5-5-5-15 2.1v) with the newest beta bios. Right now it is overclocked to 2600 Mhz with at 1.35 volts with air cooling. I can't seem to get the chip to pass Prime 95 at 2700 Mhz at any voltage. I can get my ram running at 450 Mhz with a voltage of 2.2 no problem.

Try bumping you CPU multiplier up to 10X and setting your memory divider to 667 (maybe even lower if your having problems). You should be able to hit 2500 Mhz with a FSB of 250 Mhz and a voltage of 1.35. I have ran a Vcore of up to 1.425 without any problems with heat. You might have to bump up your chipset voltages when the FSB gets above 260 Mhz.

As for the bios, I never noticed any performance changes, there were however at few noticable changes in the bios menu for Phenom compatibility. I would say its not worth upgrading for unless you are planing on upgrading to a Phenom CPU.

Good luck with the overclocking, if that doesn't work out the 5000 Black Editions can be found for about a $120 with a free after-market heatsink. I know thats the route I thinking for a cheap upgrade, it pretty common for those chips to hit 3.2 Ghz with minimal effort.
