wow thats alot of heat for just 4.0

thats way too much vtt for that setting
too much vtt can be a problem
thats one bad cpu to need so much juic for 4.0

is that the kingston lv you got ?
put 1.6v in it

Depending on what version Gigabyte X58A-UD5 you have. You might have to do a hard mod to achieve a higher overclock.

idk but i wouldn't expect to reach 4900mhz or air or water anytime soon on a 920, unless it's only for a cpu-z shot

Got it sitting at 4.2 with better temps and volts. Seems my theory is working, I downclocked my ram to a super tight 1200mhz and dropped the voltage on that to 1.35v and that seemed to relieve a lot of stress on the chip in terms of volts and temps. Also hasnt fudged up yet after a few hours of folding on the chip.

my psu crapped out in leaktest i had to reseat block + shave standoffs cause pwm +nb temps went over 65c n i was about to run linx @ 231x21 1.52v

will get back to her as soon as i get my antec 1200 back from rma

Also got the temps problem under control. Flipped my fans around to pull heat from it rather than push the air out - dropped about 15 degrees just from that. Thinking maybe another set of fans for a push pull config to get optimal results.

edit - screw it, i ordered a pair of 38mm ultra kazes, those should solve all my problems now.

edit again : how well would it work to have the kazes push while the sflex's pull?

And if that doesnt do the trick, ill throw a single 120mm radiator in the mix and have that push pull with teh 2x sflex later on.
