Default LF Help /w OCing E8400

Hi, I'm new to posting in these neck of the woods but I was wondering if anyone experienced can help me with my OC.

I'm running these spec's:

E8400 @ 3.6ghz ( stock 3.0 ) E0 batch.
Silencer 750w PSU
Gigabyte GA-EP43-UDL3
2x 2GB 1066 5-5-5-15 Kingston high performance RAM
/w stock cooling.

Currently I can only push it to 3.6ghz with stock cooling, I'm open for recommendations on cheap aftermarket heatsinks.

Also I'm very aware that stock cooling wont get me that far but I want to know just how far it'll go.
I've had this CPU pushed to 4.2ghz before.

So at this point what I'm asking is how can I push this to 3.8 or 4.0 with what I have.
From what I can gather at the maximum oc I'll decide wether to get aftermarket cooling.

212+ will be all youll need on non demented voltage :)
pricematch it to under 25 bucks!

e0 can clock to 4ghz with ease, everything else permitting.

I don't quite understand, I'll try to get a screen of my bio's for reference.
I want to try and push it to 4ghz on stock, which doesn't seem like a doozy, even 3.8ghz.

What should I have thing's set to?

You confuse me a little bit with your post. If you pushed your chip to 4.2 before, can't you duplicate that? I won't push that chip more than what you have with stock heat sink and if you want to reach 4 Ghz aftermarket cooling is a must.

Also, P43 is a neutered P45 and, from what I know, it doesn't overclock as well as a P45.

I'm sorry. I mean't I used to have a rig with an E8400 oc'd to 4.2ghz.
I just want to know how far I can push this.
I figure I can go more, considering my temp's are low, only hitting 60 barely at max load and with prime95.

p43 oc like mad as well, usually they never got the attention p45 and better got. some boards did, and they shined.

60 on prime is not bad. keep going another 5c or 10c but then itll be a bit toasty :) the 212+ will treat you very good.

1.275v for 3.6ghz? That seems kinda high for a E0 chip.

There isn't much you can do with a stock cooler, just find the max overclocking under 90C.

well if you are asking how far you can push the unit on stock cooling the only way to find out is go ahead and see what develops no one can tell you that
so many variables cases, fans, interior clutter, parts differing equipment etc etc

But its best to mount a decent cooler ....even a coolermaster 212 plus is great and cheap
The best way is just go get a cooler
and away you go

Like everyone else said, the 212 should do you just fine.

Max voltage for that chip suggested by intel is 1.3625V, and max temp is 74ºC But i would try to keep it below 70. You should be able to get to 4.0, just work your way up, and try not to go over 70ºC or 1.3625v.
