Because I wasn't trying to turn this into a discussion about how temperature measurements and specifications are handled with regard to Intel CPUs. In any case, the information is fairly easy to find either by searching for my posts or simply looking it up yourself.

I never said "NOT RIGHT". As for trusting Intel's word over mine, that will not be necessary. My comments are coming straight from Intel. People who quote the thermal spec as a maximum temperature are not contradicting what I am saying, they are merely misinterpreting the significance of that value (which has absolutely nothing to do with the maximum safe temperature).

There's no point in spending that much on DDR2, especially for slow DDR2. I suggest you go for a cheaper kit of DDR2-1000 or better, like this for example: Newegg.ca - OCZ Blade Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Desktop Memory Model OCZ2B10664GK

Since I'm here I'll ask a question. I have my q6600 at 3.2 and am currently using kingston value ram. I've been having a hard time getting it to 3.6, is it my ram holding me back or just the luck of the draw with my q6600. it's a go, I believe.

What's the speed of your RAM and what FSB speed are you trying to use? Unless you're going past the rated frequency of the memory, the RAM shouldn't have any limiting effect on your overclock.

update:

I recently installed my NH-D14 (it is a beast), and some mushkin blackline ddr2 1066 and I was able to hit 3.6ghz at 1.4v (all other settings auto) on my first try. It has been stable since then (passed intel burn test never getting any hotter than 70C and passed roughly 4 hours of p95 remaining much cooler)
