first time oc i7

ASUS Maximus III Extreme
Enermax Revolution 85+ 850W
4GB Patriot Viper II Sector 5 DDR3-2000
MSI R5850-PM2D1G-OC
i7-860
CM Hyper 212+
CM Storm Sniper BE

Right now my idle temps are around 21-26* and when i did prime95 it maxed at 39-42* under 100% load
3DMark06 score was 17788

this is all stock.

I am gonna start by following this guide

but I am looking for some other tips or advice

Well I here's my first attemp and everything seems stable ran Prime95 for about 1.5 hrs

gonna leave it for today and go a little higher tomorrow

New 3DMark06 score is 20592

Do you have after market cooling installed ? Nice temps What are temps with full load ?

I perlonaly woud not go abuve 65 c at full prime load .

i have the hyper 212+ on the cpu. and the temps listed there was at full load 45 - 53. the Sniper Storm has great cooling with the 200 on top, 200 front, 200 side, 120 bottom and 120 out the back

I have an i7 920 so I cant help more. Run it as is fore a wile to day to day stabilty. Fore use other than gaming or benching you can lower fan speeds if you want. I would use it at those clocks fore a wile and see if you like the preformance. As you overclocke further the games will begin to maintain stabillilty.

Post a Bios template and let the games begin if you want.

This post on EVga forums may give you a starting piont but each board and chip i7 870 so to speek requiers the use of differnt settings to get the best result. i7-860 and 4 RAM slots OC'ing WOOT STABLE

Look fore a forum post on your board and chip like this one to get information on your board.

So from this point on should I increase the vcore first or just the bclk until it becomes unstable and then increase the vcore. or should i put the vcore at a safe setting first. I think 1.35v and the start increasing my bclk?

got this in prime 95. what does it mean. I tested the memory using memtest 4.0 and no errors reported
