I have run a few cpu/mobo combos where all the temp reports were wrong- right now with this asus commando and the q6600, all reports are saying that my CPU temp is 20C when it's about 23 in the room.

I find that CoreTemp, Everest [Engineer Edition], and TAT are all very accurate. Except CoreTemp always crashes at random time intervals.

Ok, thanks. I guess I will play it safe and stop at 53 degrees (I am at that now). It is not the end of the world if I don't shave every last second off my super PI calculation.

What are your idle temps at OC & Stock settings? That should give you a pretty good idea of how accurate the software readings are.

You could also check your BIOS temps... :)

I idol at about 27-30, and at full stress i am at 53.

The BIOS can only really tell me my idol temp.
