Default Overcolcking i7 980x

Can anyone tell me where to find a noob guide to overclocking this? I've heard that the "X" series are easier to OC and I wanted to see what I can do with a liquid cooled rig (once I receive it). I'm hoping to get 4.3 - 4.4 but I don't know what to set.

Maybe if you checked the HWC review on the 980X, you'll see how they got theirs to the speed that you want...

the extreme cpu are easier to overclock because they have an unlocked multiplier, which means you don't have to achieve high block to max out your cpu on air/water.

imo unless you plan on ocing on subzero temps, buying a extreme cpu isn't really worth it. Are they awesome cpus? hell yeah, can you get a better chip for your money? hell yeah!(well not right now tho :D) but i'm sure "regular" hexacore will be available soon enough

Jeez, don't hate on the guy for buying the 980X.

Once I put together $3500 I'm building a 980X rig too, haha...

Anyways, getting that beast to 4GHz will not be a problem, as others have said. Good luck finding something to tax out that CPU though!

4ghz with an unlocked chip, is like cutting butter with a warm knife

4.3/4.4 under water shouldn't be a problem either, but volts will start to climb faster past 4.2
