Safe temps for e8400 E0 under 100% load? right now i"m running it at 4.2ghz. I ran IBT for 5 runs, and the highest it went was about 72 but the cores hit 74 once or twice. should I be worried? |
I wouldn't be. jmo some will disagree |
If not for 24/7 use should be safe but you can try to lower the temps a little by lapping the cooler and or cpu and using high performance TIM |
I wouldn't be worried at those temps. 80+ I would start to worry. |
those are pretty good temps, i never could get my e8400 that high without bumping my volts really high. |
max case temp meaning the ihs is 72c he's only reaching 72c on he's cores there's quite a lot of room to play ( delta's on c2d is anywhere form 5c to 10c between ihs and core so your very safe ) like larkstarr says i wouldn't worry until 80c+ core temps |
If your temps are below 100C, you're fine. If they're above 100C, you're still fine, but your CPU will throttle. It is impossible to damage a modern Intel CPU by loading it and causing its temperature rise too much, because its thermal protection mechanisms will kick in and shut the chip off if it gets to dangerous levels. gingerbee, the maximum Tcase rating is absolutely worthless, unless you feel like milling a channel into your heatspreader and inserting a thermocouple. |
well your right. it does give as something to go by but your right all the delta's are different. adn no i am not milling channel into the ihs like hard ocp does ha ha:biggrin: |
