Default Overclocking with RAM PC8500 vs 6400

Hello people..

I had a question please, system should be in sig.. I managed to overclock my E8400 on the bioastar i45 board last time to about 4.5ghz (max OC) but to around 4.3ghz stable..

Anyhow for that kind of overclock is it worth spending the extra few bucks for a set of PC8500 ram, or just settle with PC6400, some good stuff that can overclock well.. like Mushkin, G-skill..

Also my e8400 is a C0 stepping, so can't go much higher..

edit: should mention that my current set of PC8500 is a done deal, can't even pass a 10min memtest test.. so gotta buy a new set..

My System Specs

well if you think the extra 300mhz is worth the $40-$60 upgrade then go for it.

but if your gonna get 4gb ddr2 since your ballistix are failing, just spend the extra and get the PC8500 sets.

time to RMA those crucial bllastixs?

I was going to RMA them, but those are 2gbs. and dmicron chips need a lot of voltage to overclock, plus looking around the B/S/T section, I've seen at least 2 people with ballistix RAM struggling to sell them, so I'm doubting I'll have any luck.. No harm in RMA though..

I also talked to few people and came to a conclusion that PC8500 set prices set to be better off than PC6400, more overclockability as well.. And I'm going 4gb this time for sure..
