Default e2140 On an P5K... O/C issues

First off, I RARELY do any kind of O/C'ing, so sorry if this turns out to be a stupid question:

So I recently purchased an e2140 and P5K board off a fellow HWC'r. The hardware works great, first off. But I'm having some issues with the o/c'ing. I've gone in to the BIOS and set the ram to 4-4-4-12 @1.9V (stock rating), and I've set the CPU to 8x266. When I boot, it posts correctly at 2.15GHz, but when I get in to Windows, both Windows (7) and CPU-Z read out the default 1.6GHz. And CPU-Z shows 6x269.

This is my first Intel processor in probably 10 years or more, and I've never owned an ASUS board. Is it something specific to these products? Or am I completely dense today and missing something glaringly obvious?

*EDIT* Memory tab in CPU-Z shows the correct timing, but it's running @ 398MHz ?

Strange thing is, the core speed and multiplier keep flipping between 6x265 and 8x266. It'll flip to 8x really fast, then flip back... what gives?

Hey look! An entire conversation with myself!

Anyway, running good now. And I've brought it up to 8x333. Holy crap Intel is easier to O/C than AMD! Been 6 hours stable on Prime95. Thanks again yycraven!

Let me chime in here then.... NICE JOB!

Ps. Good thing you found the Energy savings setting yourself! You would have been thrown in the tar-pit for that one! :)

Heh... saved me from having to dig up the sticky on the subject..... ;)

Pretty common mistake though, especially since there's more than one setting that needs to be turned off to disable the power saving features of S775 CPUs.

Glad to hear you got it figured out.

You might want to loosen your timings on your RAM and bump your NB voltage just a little. I'm pretty certain you should be able to hit 3.0Ghz without too much extra trouble.
