My System Specs

Default i7 920 on an eVGA X58 SLI LE Mobo

Hello all. So I got my machine up and running this weekend and have been tweaking away at the OC. The guides that are out there for the i7 make OCing the chip a very easy process I found. I am not pushing mine to the limit though, so I can't tell you if 4 GHz or higher on my board is doable on air because I am not that brave :) What I can tell you is that my initial OC was 180 X 20 with Stock vCore, CPU VTT and NB Core and it ran without a problem. I then bumped to 190 X 20 and had to input more vCore and VTT to get it stable. About 1.27 vCore and 1.34 VTT. I didn't run the 190 X 20 overnight but I did run the 180 X 20 overnight using Prime95 and blend.

Last night I tweaked down the vCore and VTT to 1.25 and 1.3 respective and set the multi to 185 X 20. My RAM is set to 2:8 and uncore to auto (2x RAM it seems) and ran OCCT 3.1.0 Large overnight without a hiccup. I feel safer with the slightly lower volts and speed. My temps on the overnight run never broke mid 60s, I did run the linpack in OCCT 3.1.0 for 15 min and my temps ran up to 79 but not over. (my ambient is about 23C in an air conditioned room) My idle temps run high 30s to low 40s, ie 37-42 though the cores bounce a bit. Core 4 is my cool champ running 5 deg cooler than my hot core #3. 1 & 2 are pretty close, in between 3 and 4.

Using the guides that are out there did make this an easy experience, and the i7 920 chip is a solid performer as far as I can tell!

Specs.

i7 920 D0
eVGA X58 SLI LE
Mushkin XP3 Xtreme Performance DDR 3 1600 7-8-7-20 (not Redlines)
Corsair HX 850 PSU
HAF 922
CM Hyper 212+ with Scythe Slip Stream in push pull at 1900 rpm (110 CFM)

185 X 20 = 3700 MHz
185 X 21 = 3895 MHz Turbo
738.1 MHz on the RAM

Right now I am running 2 F@H consoles and 1 BOINC Rosetta@Home and my temps differ on work cores, a high of 59 on 1 46 on 2 54 on 3 and 46 on 4.

Nice...if your into the 3.8 Ghz speed and have 1600 Mhz RAM..try Bclk 200 Mhz x 19 Mult...Memory 2:8..now you got your RAM running at Spec...
