Default Help overclocking i7

My current build, below, will work fine for now however I was wandering what the best motherboard would be if I wanted to overclock down the road. Is the EVGA SLI LE that I listed a good overclocking board for the i7?

I'm currently using the computer for lots of multitasking and occasional gamming.

I know there are better motherboards to overclock the i7 but I'm looking at a price range of 200 to 300 dollars(Nova Scotia, Canada).

Build(this build not yet ordered working on it it's my new build):

COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP Black SECC/ ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

Default Elaborate

Anyone care to elaborate on how good the motherboard would be for overclocking?
Is it very good anyone know a possible range?
I just want to make sure itís a good choice and I donít have a lot of knowledge about overclocking with the i7

Thanks for the reply gingerbee.

Just remember that that's a TR board, meaning you don't get the lifetime warranty that's usually associated with EVGA. Just remember to find an A1 series if it really matter to you.

i agree, AI series should be strongly considered. as OCing stresses your hardware. as flaws would show up in the form of exploding resistors or caps. or just excessively hot chips on the board. be sure to register within the said 30 days i believe. Most ex58 boards are fairly good for OCing, some are better than others, by a small albeit noticeable margin.

i'm using the asus p6t now, previously had the deluxe version. I do miss the SAS controller...:(

just got it watercooled and running. will try and oc.

You should check Tomshardware 955 review. if you only plan to put a single 4870, a core i7 will actually underperform a simple Phenom II X3.

You need at least 2 4870 to really see a difference. There is a review on Hard OCP comparing a Q96XX, i7 920, X4 and X3. I don't think the difference between a X3 and a i7 worth the 300$+ more, but your money your way.

Yes i have noticed this difference in performance as well. some of the things i do often like winAVI and winrar that eats up memory is faster on the i7. but other times i have found to be faster on my test phenom2 810 setup.

i've always had nvidia GPUs so i can comment on the 4870s.
