If it fails right away then yes I'd say it's a good bet you have to increase your voltages. What are you sitting at right now ? What's your CPU clock?

Post all your system specs as well, as it will be requested soon enough and will help root out some possible problems (such as poor power supply)

All right! Complete system specs:

EVGA X58 3X SLI motherboard
Core i7 920 C0
6GB Patriot Extreme Viper, 1600MHz @ CL8
Evga GTX 260 Vanilla (192SPs)
X-Fi Titanium
OCZ EliteXStream 800W 62A for the 12V rail

other thingies: DVD burner, antec 1200, custom watercooling.

Evrything is auto voltage in BIOS, except for the RAM wich is set at 1.625V

UPDATE : I am back now at stock settings, and what really scares me is the fact that my 920 fails prime95 blend test almost instantly... even on stock settings. there is really something wrong

What are the other settings? E.g.,
Vcore, QPI/vtt, Uncore, Multipliers, etc.If you run ok on stock, and fail right away on prime95 blend, it may mean your cooling is problematic, or your voltages and other settings are not proper.

My cooling is more than adequate. Apogee GTZ, GTS 240, MCP655. cpu-loop only.

I think I found the problem. the vram in evga's BIOS is set at 1.625V. that's the problem. just checked the problem in e-leet: under load, the ram drop at around 1.61V. Seems to be the problem with the motherboard in general: there is a lot of vdroop. just did a test: put my ram at 1.675V in BIOS, was around 1.66V with vdroop.

now it does not fail blend almost instantly.

will try with my overclocked settings.

ignore E-Leet for VTT and vDIMM, they are usually way off and read much higher than they are. i have found that on most occasions, vDIMM droops a full 0.050v under load from what is set in the BIOS. so with 1.625v, you were likely dropping to 1.575v under load. not all boards may be the same but based on your results, i suspect this to be the case with yours. the only way to accurately get the vDIMM is with a DMM and measure from the contact pads at the top of the board, right above the DIMM slots. I have to agree... my vtt voltage in e-leet is scary!

tried blend test and it was stable 1 hour.

found the problem! I thought it was my 920 that was a complete an overclocking failure but seems my RAM was under-juiced thanks!!!
