Should that not work, seems lke your only choice is to try a different ram divider. You may also want to just try 450 straight-up...bios settings are definately causing your grief.

Yeah why are you running a 5:6 divider? Always try to see where you can go with a 1:1

Tried 450x8 as well as 435 with a 1:1 divider with the same results as before. And I was using a 5:6 divider because then as I maxed out my processor at a around 450-470MHz, my RAM would be just over spec, where as the next step down using 333MHz latch would put it at 900-940MHz which is way under spec. I also know this RAM can do at least 1100MHz at 5-5-5-15 and 2.1V

Here are my exact settings so you can see if there is something I've overlooked (I also did manage to find PL and I now have it set at 8)

isn't there 2.4 A/B/C/D dividers? Did you try the others?


I'm not familiar with gigabyte's bios at all...they were supposed to send me a UD3P board, but didn't, so I haven't had the opportunity to figure it all out.

But you're on a QX, which is gonna be FSB limited in the first place, so really, why don't you just up the multi to 10 and run 400FSB and 1066 ram? the load a QX quad puts on the FSB is HUGE, and while I could run mine @ 470 on P45, I did have an exceptional chip...If i remember correctly, I was running 4ghz @ 1.3v, or thereabouts.

The only 2.4 divider is with the 333MHz latch so I wouldn't be able to try any others. I can try a different latch if you think that would be of any use. The choices are 200/266/333/400.

Well, you can try..it's not what I want, but what you want...you want more FSB, so start tweaking.


Get HWinfo32, read teh ram's SPD, and put as many as those settings as is possible in the bios. sometimes the auto setting are what screws with you.

Even then, no guarantees..my QX would do that 1.3v/4ghz @ 12x333, 10x400, 9x445...no VTT changes, little chipset volt changes, and only really needed to adjsut a wee bit for ram clocks.

If you need 1.4v for those clocks...you cpu isn't that great, so you should really lower your expectations in FSB, and try just 333mhz and multi's to get you clocks, or go with what you know is already stable, and start upping the multi.

You can run the 1st setting robust graphics booster at auto.
you can set the frequency latch at auto it gives methinks more options on ram a b etc
You need to set more volt actuals than auto
Start back at default

So I've tried using a 9.5x and 10x multi. With 9.5 I got to 3950MHz, and with 10x I could just under 3900MHz. So I thought maybe the motherboard just doesn't want to play nice with my QX9650 since it has a TDP of 130W. I've now put my X3350 (Q9450) in, and... *drum roll* failboat. 399FSB boots perfectly fine and is prime stable, but 400FSB wont post. My QX also doesn't need 1.4V for those clocks, but the droop in my board is pretty bad so it drops to 1.36, and I just wanted to be sure that wasn't causing any of the problems.

EDIT: I somehow managed to change something that let it work. I'm not exactly sure what as I was practically changing settings at random out of frustration. And then boom, posts. I might end up selling my QX9650 anyways if I can get some decent clocks out of my X3350 since university isn't going to be cheap next year (going to be going to Ryerson for engineering).
